Dr. Agatha Alidri, the Coordinator of the Building Stronger Universities (BSU) project, has been awarded the Best Networker 2024–2025 by the Empowerment for Research-Based Advocacy (EReBA) project.
She received the award on July 30, 2025, at Gulu University, presented by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. George Ladaah Openjuru, during a ceremony marking the conclusion of the EReBA pilot project and the official launch of the EReBA network.
Dr. Alidri was recognized for her outstanding efforts in promoting the communication and advocacy of research in Uganda between October 2024 and July 2025.
The EReBA pilot project, which commenced in March 2024, was implemented through a partnership involving the Danish Development Research Network (DDRN), the Uganda Science Journalists Association (USJA), and the Rwanda Association of Science Journalists (RASJ), with funding from the Danish umbrella NGO Civil Society in Development (CISU).
Other notable recognitions included Mr. Peter Wamboga-Mugirya of the Science Foundation for Livelihoods and Development (SCIFODE), who was named Top Performing CSO Actor in Uganda, and Dr. Nathan Kanuma Taremwa from the University of Rwanda, awarded Best Networker in Rwanda.
Among the journalists who participated in the project, Tonny Abet of the Daily Monitor was awarded Best Journalist, while Olivier Mukaaya (Daily Monitor) and Henry Okurut (UBC) were named first and second runners-up, respectively.
Speaking on behalf of the implementing partners, Mr. William Odinga Balikuddembe, President of USJA, noted that the winners were selected by an international panel comprising project implementers and had to meet all the established criteria.
